Description
This is a lab course to complement Ethnobotany 230 (Lakota/Dakota Ethnobotany). Students will be involved in hands-on activities to examine the relationship between plants and people. For example, students will identify local plants with cultural, economic and/or medicinal importance. The labs will feature lessons in plant morphology, active compouds, antimicrobial properties, traditional preparation effectiveness, nutritional content, and defining preparations such as tinctures, decoctions, infusions, and salves.
